The Edge of Perception
With this series of work Collins seeks to question environmental policies with a narrative that is full of hope for the future of the natural environment. The mature trees are representational of nature's strength and ability to quickly rejuvenate abandoned buildings or ugly waste lands.
Collins clearly has something to say but is not trying to force an attitude on the viewer. She creates images that stand alone in their beauty and offer an almost painterly photographic picture that can appeal immediately at first sight without an understanding of the motivations driving her. She is happy for people to draw their own conclusions about the images.
